So far, 19 pistols have been seized as evidence in the case, while police say many more weapons are still being sought.

Police officer Onur Gazinocu, testifying before Güzelyurt District Court Judge Nuray Necdet, said that during the operation carried out on 31 October, a large number of pistols were found, along with two shotgun cartridges of Greek Cypriot origin.

Further investigation revealed gun parts discarded in a water container. Gazinocu said that a total of 19 pistols were seized as evidence and confirmed that several other firearms are still being searched for.

He also noted that camera footage from locations identified through the suspects’ statements is being examined and that numerous pistol photos and related messages were found on the suspects’ mobile phones.

The officer added that police are also investigating whether the case is linked to recent shooting incidents.

Stressing that the investigation is ongoing and multi-dimensional, Gazinocu requested the suspects’ continued detention on the grounds that the remaining evidence is still being sought and that their release could jeopardize the investigation.

After hearing the findings and defence questions, the court ruled that the suspects remain in police custody for another eight days.
