President Erhürman to Depart for Ankara This Evening
President Tufan Erhürman will travel to Ankara this evening for his first official visit since taking office. Erhürman is scheduled to meet with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday. The talks will focus on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue and the state of relations between Turkey and the TRNC.
Erhürman will depart the island at 18:00 today to hold a series of official meetings in Ankara. His programme will begin tomorrow morning with a visit to Anıtkabir, where he will lay a wreath at the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
First Lady Nilden Bektaş Erhürman will accompany the President on the visit. The delegation will also include Undersecretary Mehmet Dânâ, Chief of Cabinet Mustafa Ergüven, and Press and Public Relations Officer Tünay Mertekci.
President Erhürman is expected to return to the island on Thursday evening following his engagements in Ankara.
Earlier, Turkish Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran stated that “the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue will be evaluated, and all aspects of Turkey–TRNC relations will be discussed.”
