Three Greek Cypriots Acquitted in the TRNC Return to South Cyprus
Three of the five Greek Cypriots who were arrested at the Akyar Land Border Crossing in Famagusta for allegedly entering the TRNC without completing the required immigration procedures and violating a military restricted zone have returned to South Cyprus after being acquitted by the Military Court. The legal process for the remaining two continues at the Iskele District Court.
The five Greek Cypriots had been detained on charges of entering the TRNC through the Akyar Land Border Crossing without undergoing immigration checks and unlawfully crossing into a military restricted area. Reports state that the three individuals acquitted last Friday by the Military Court have now crossed back to South Cyprus.
According to a report by Fileleftheros, citing the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), the three Greek Cypriots went to the Iskele Police Station to retrieve their identity documents and personal belongings. One of them returned to South Cyprus through the nearest land crossing point, while the other two crossed via the Nicosia land crossing.
The legal proceedings for the other two Greek Cypriots, who still face two charges each, are ongoing at the Yeni Iskele District Court.
