According to the latest poll, DISY and AKEL remain the leading parties, while the newly established Direct Democracy party, led by MEP and influencer Fidias Panayotu, appears likely to enter parliament.

Fileleftheros reported that the Interior Committee set the election date during yesterday’s meeting, noting that neither the Iron Maiden concert at the Olympic Stadium in Athens nor the Greek league’s Final Four will affect the schedule. Voters wishing to attend these events must apply in advance to vote from their current location. The Constitution requires general elections to be held within a period of no less than 30 days and no more than 40 days following the dissolution of the House, which lies within the authority of the parliamentary parties rather than the executive branch.

Seat Transfer from Nicosia to Paphos

Another topic discussed at the meeting was the transfer of one parliamentary seat from Nicosia to Paphos. This adjustment, resulting from changes in population and updated voter lists, is expected to be approved in the House Plenary on December 4. Once approved, the change will take effect in the 2026 parliamentary elections, reducing Nicosia’s current 20 seats to 19 and increasing Paphos’ representation from four to five seats.

Poll Shows DISY in the Lead

Alithia Reporter published the results of a poll conducted yesterday on the 2026 elections, indicating that DISY and AKEL continue to be voters’ top choices. Fidias Panayotu’s newly established “Direct Democracy” party garnered 5.7% support, suggesting it can comfortably enter parliament.

According to the IMR poll conducted between November 3–10 with 1,000 participants, 18.3% of respondents said they would vote for DISY if elections were held tomorrow, followed by 17.6% for AKEL. ELAM was third with 13.4%, Odysseas Mihailidis’ Alma party received 10.1%, and DIKO 7.1%. Volt attracted 3.1%, Ecologists 2.5%, EDEK 1.9%, DIPA 1%, and Active Citizens-Hunters 1.3% support.
