Annual inflation in South Cyprus decreases to 3.6% in May

According to data from Eurostat, the inflation rate in South Cyprus for May 2021 has dropped to its lowest level since the beginning of the year.

The Fileleftheros newspaper reports that the inflation rate for the past 12 months is now at 3.6%, down from 3.7% in April. However, the newspaper notes that the inflation rate for food and non-alcoholic beverages continues to be high at 8.38% annually, and that the increase in food prices has been observed across all EU countries.

Meanwhile, Haravgi newspaper reported that the Gross Domestic Product for the first quarter of 2021 reached €6.2 billion, with the largest economic activity growth seen in wholesale and retail trade.
