Traffic Checks Result in 640 Drivers Reported

During traffic checks conducted by the police in Nicosia, Famagusta, and Kyrenia, 640 vehicle drivers were reported, and 78 vehicles were suspended from traffic.

According to the statement from the Police Press Office, simultaneous security and traffic checks were conducted in the jurisdictions of Nicosia and Famagusta Police Directorates from 20:00 to 00:00, while Kyrenia Police conducted traffic checks within their jurisdiction.
In Nicosia, the checks included inspections of places serving alcoholic beverages, entertainment venues, nightclubs, and crowded areas. During these checks, five individuals were arrested for residing in the country without legal status, even though they had no legal status. Additionally, 32 people were found to have entered or stayed in a casino, which is prohibited, and legal action was taken against them.
In the traffic checks in Nicosia, a total of 1,235 vehicle drivers were inspected. Among the offenses detected, 96 drivers were reported for exceeding the legal speed limit, 2 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 3 for driving without a valid license, and 67 for using a mobile phone while driving. This resulted in a total of 364 vehicle drivers being reported for various traffic offenses, and legal action was initiated against them. Furthermore, 57 vehicles were suspended from traffic.
In Famagusta, checks were conducted at locations where the public frequently gathers and at entertainment venues, but no irregularities were found. At casinos, nine people were found to have entered or stayed, which is prohibited, and legal action was taken against them.
In traffic checks conducted by Famagusta traffic teams, a total of 960 vehicle drivers were inspected. Among the offenses detected, one driver was reported for driving under the influence of alcohol, 86 for exceeding the legal speed limit, and 16 for using a mobile phone while driving. This resulted in a total of 156 vehicle drivers being reported for various traffic offenses, and legal action was initiated against them. Additionally, nine vehicles were suspended from traffic.
Furthermore, in Kyrenia, traffic checks conducted by traffic teams resulted in a total of 648 vehicle drivers being inspected. Among the offenses detected, six drivers were reported for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for driving without a valid license, 64 for exceeding the legal speed limit, and 12 for using a mobile phone while driving. This led to legal action being initiated against 120 vehicle drivers for various traffic offenses, and 12 vehicles were suspended from traffic.
