Northern Cyprus Tourism Destination Promotion Project: A Landmark Initiative, Says Serhan Aktunç

Serhan Aktunç, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, emphasized the significance of the Northern Cyprus Tourism Destination Promotion Project, stating, "This project is the largest undertaking we have ever embarked upon" during his appearance on the 'Sabah Postası' program hosted by Gökhan Altıner and broadcasted on Kıbrıs Postası TV.

Highlighting the collaborative effort between Turkish Airlines (THY) and representatives from the tourism sector, Aktunç shared the following details:
"Starting from October 16, 2023, tour operators from 9 different countries across 2 continents connected to THY's flight network will begin arriving in our country. These countries include the UK, Germany, Czechia, some Scandinavian countries, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran. Tour operators from these countries will visit our country every Monday and stay for 3 days. KITSAB, KITOB, KITREB, and RESBİR have all expressed their support for this initiative. During their stay, tour operators will explore our country and subsequently promote Northern Cyprus when they return to their home countries."
Aktunç emphasized that the Northern Cyprus Tourism Destination Promotion Project represents a groundbreaking endeavor, stating, "No other organization has brought this many major tour operators to our country. This is a very important beginning."
Acknowledging the project's vital role in introducing the country to a broader audience, Aktunç stated, "Through this organization, we will have the opportunity to present our culture to wider audiences."
Aktunç highlighted that the project will focus on promoting historical monuments, religious tourism, and gastronomy during the period when tour operators are in the country. He noted, "A genuine tourism planning is being implemented where both the local community and tourists will be together."
Furthermore, Aktunç mentioned that the tourists arriving will not be limited to staying in their hotels but will be eager to explore the country, ensuring benefits for local businesses.
He concluded by emphasizing that the visiting tourists will showcase Northern Cyprus culture and promote the destination. Turkish Airlines has played a significant role in this endeavor.
Aktunç also provided updates on the long-awaited Ancient Harbor project, expressing optimism about its completion within the next week to ten days. He explained that certain unforeseen challenges had impacted the project's progress but added, "I believe it will be completed by the end of the month. We will meet with the local shopkeepers again and find a middle ground."
Aktunç assured that when the public sees the new state of the harbor, they will be pleased, and he expressed confidence that the Ancient Harbor would soon return to its former glory.
