He stated that such accusations are completely baseless and aimed at tarnishing the country.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel highlighted that "zero tolerance" in the fight against crime and criminals has always been their fundamental principle and will continue to be so. He said, "We do not allow the definition of the TRNC as a country harboring criminals. Our country is not such a country."
Üstel emphasized that the country is not without protection and that no criminal organization can find refuge there, and no illegal or unlawful activities will be permitted. He mentioned that the police force, the Central Bank, and all state institutions are working with strong experiences gained in the past in this field, and the government's support is complete.
Üstel stated that banks strictly adhere to "compliance" rules for both new account openings and afterwards, not allowing any relationship with prohibited countries, individuals, or institutions.
He also mentioned that the draft Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering complies with the latest directives from the EU and is in the final stages in the relevant parliamentary committee. Üstel concluded by expressing his refusal to ignore the effective efforts they have been carrying out against all kinds of crime and criminals for a long time and not accepting the country being made the subject of a smear campaign.,
