In two separate traffic accidents in Gönyeli and Famagusta in the early hours of the morning, one person was injured, and one person was arrested.

According to the statement from the Police Press Office, two separate traffic accidents occurred in Gönyeli and Famagusta in the early hours of the morning today, resulting in one person being injured.

Accident on Gazimağusa - Lefkoşa Main Road:

In the first accident that occurred around 01:00 on the Gazimağusa - Lefkoşa main road, 24-year-old Hasan Tayıb Semir was injured.

The accident happened when Semir lost control of his ER 751 plate sedan, veering off the road from the left, hitting a dirt embankment, and then colliding with an electricity pole.

As a result of the impact, the broken electricity pole and transformer fell onto the vehicle, causing a fire. The fire was extinguished by the fire brigade, but the vehicle, electricity pole, and transformer were completely burned.

The driver of the vehicle, Hasan Tayıb Semir, who was injured in the accident, was taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital and placed under observation in the Emergency Department.

Drunk Driver Causes Accident in Gönyeli:

In another incident around 02:00 in Gönyeli, Ratip Roşhan Akargöl (E-37), an intoxicated driver with a blood alcohol level of 287 promils, lost control of his sedan with the license plate LY 886 while making a U-turn. Due to his negligence, the vehicle veered off the road from the left and collided with an acacia tree on the sidewalk.

While there were no injuries in the accident, Akargöl was arrested.

The police investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
