Budget Marathon Commences in Parliament: 2024 Fiscal Year Proposal Under Discussion

The 2024 Fiscal Year Budget Bill, projecting expenditures of 78.717 billion TL and revenues of 71.932 billion TL, has begun its deliberations in the General Assembly of the Parliament.

The General Assembly will convene continuously on weekdays during the 10-day discussions. The General Assembly convened around noon today to initiate the discussions on the 2024 Fiscal Year Budget Bill.

Today's session will continue with the presentation speech by Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova following the reading of the report on the bill.

After the completion of discussions on the report and the entirety of the bill, the bill will be examined item by item.

Today in the general assembly, the budgets of the Presidency, the Republic Assembly, and affiliated institutions will be addressed.

SCHEDULE

The 2024 Central Government Budget Bill foresees expenditures of 78.717 billion TL and revenues of 71.932 billion TL.

The discussions in the General Assembly regarding the budget bill, passed by the Economy, Finance, Budget, and Planning Committee with a majority vote, will be carried out continuously every day except for Saturday and Sunday, aiming to conclude on December 22.

The schedule for the Republic Assembly General Assembly's budget discussions is as follows:

"Tomorrow: Prime Ministry and Deputy Prime Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Ministry; Wednesday: Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Thursday: Ombudsman, Courts, Ministry of Health; Friday: Police General Directorate, Civil Defense Organization Presidency, GKK budget, Ministry of Interior; December 18 Monday: Public Service Commission Presidency, Ministry of Labor and Social Security; December 19 Tuesday: Attorney General's Office, Ministry of Economy and Energy; December 20 Wednesday: Court of Accounts, Ministry of National Education; December 21 Thursday: Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources; December 22 Friday: Ministry of Finance budgets will be discussed. On the same day, the income budget will be addressed, and the entirety of the bill will be voted on."
