Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, along with the President of the Turkish Cypriot Contractors Association (KTİMB), Cafer Gürcafer, and representatives of economic organizations, conducted inspections at the Metehan Border Crossing Point.

During the inspections in the region, Üstel commented on the steps to be taken to alleviate the congestion at the Metehan Border Crossing Point, saying that there have been some congestion issues at land crossings due to an increase in the number of vehicles and population.

Üstel stated that efforts have begun to build a modern land border crossing and added:

"Today, once again, we are witnessing an example of cooperation between the private sector and the government. We are completing unfinished projects one by one. We are organizing land entry points in cooperation with economic organizations. There have been some congestion issues at land crossings due to an increase in the number of vehicles and population. We are working to improve our largest land crossing, Metehan, to a modern standard. Efforts have begun to build a modern land border crossing. People crossing from Metehan will no longer experience congestion."

KTİMB President Cafer Gürcafer, in his remarks, emphasized that people have been experiencing serious problems at the Metehan Border Crossing Point, stating, "There was a bureaucracy that needed to be overcome through joint efforts. The bureaucracy has been overcome, necessary permissions have been obtained, and work has begun. We aim to complete the project within a few months."
