Emrah Yeşilırmak, a Member of Parliament for the National Unity Party (UBP), made statements to Kıbrıs Postası following the announcement by HP Chairman Kudret Özersay that they had filed a complaint to the police regarding a parliamentarian obtaining a fake diploma and circulating it.

Yeşilırmak expressed that he did not know whom Kudret Özersay was referring to and stated, "I do not have any documents, but I am open to any information or evidence, while reserving my legal rights."

"I DON'T KNOW WHOM HE IS REFERRING TO"

Yeşilırmak said, "I don't know whom Özersay is referring to," stating that such an allegation should be presented to the public clearly by naming names.

Referring to Özersay's status as an academician, Yeşilırmak emphasized the sensitivity of the matter.

Stressing the importance of such issues coming to light apart from the financial aspects of universities, Yeşilırmak said, "There is a reality in the country, which is that universities are national assets for the country, and this should not be forgotten."

Yeşilırmak underlined that universities create significant value for the country and emphasized the need for individuals and institutions to be very sensitive in this regard.

"I DO NOT AGREE THAT ALL DIPLOMAS OF THE PARLIAMENTARIANS ARE FAKE"

"I would like to state that I do not agree that all 50 MPs' diplomas are academically fake and irregular," said Yeşilırmak, addressing the news in the media.

Yeşilırmak stated that Özersay knows him well and that he graduated from EMU and then pursued his higher education, adding, "I don't know whom he is referring to, as there is no information or evidence reaching me."

"THE AUTHORITY TO VERIFY DIPLOMAS DOES NOT BELONG TO ÖZERSAY, BUT TO YÖDAK"

Yeşilırmak said, "He does not have the authority to decide if a diploma is fake or not," stressing that this verification is the responsibility of YÖDAK, not Özersay.

"ÖZERSAY IS DISCREDITING INSTITUTIONS"

Stating that Kudret Özersay is trying to discredit institutions, Yeşilırmak said, "This is not right; it does not fit into political ethics. If he has such doubts, he should apply to YÖDAK and share it with the public."
