Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a message on the occasion of the 1-7 March Earthquake Week.

Ünal Üstel emphasized that their struggle would continue until justice is served regarding those responsible for the calamity, which deeply wounded the public conscience and caused great consternation in society.

"We observe the 1-7 March Earthquake Week by trying to heal the deep wounds caused by the calamity of the century that we experienced on February 6 last year, by continuing our legal struggle and quest for justice for our lost Champion Angels and our people," said Üstel, noting that both the common pain and struggle were far from over, and that they were closely following the legal process.

Prime Minister Üstel's message is as follows:

"We observe the 1-7 March Earthquake Week by trying to heal the deep wounds caused by the calamity of the century that we experienced on February 6 last year, by continuing our legal struggle and quest for justice for our lost Champion Angels and our people. Both our common pain and our struggle are far from over... We are closely following and will continue to follow the legal process. Our struggle will continue until justice is served regarding those responsible for the calamity of the century that deeply wounded the public conscience and caused great consternation in our society...

Our government has drawn necessary lessons from the February 6 earthquake disaster and has taken all necessary steps without delay to rectify our deficiencies and make our living spaces earthquake-resistant.

Stating, "The safety of life and property of our people is our priority," we have acted with a non-partisan understanding to ensure that natural events in our country do not turn into disasters, reassessing our structures in line with the recommendations of all stakeholders and scientists. We have taken and continue to take every precaution needed.

Under the umbrella of the Prime Ministry, the Earthquake Committee, consisting of scientists and civil society, continues its work tirelessly.

Risk assessments of public buildings and schools have been conducted, and reinforcement projects are ongoing.

Work on hospitals and other public institutions is also ongoing.

Personnel needed by the Civil Defense Organization have been employed, equipment has been procured, and our organization has been strengthened. We have conducted and continue to conduct studies to further strengthen our Civil Defense Organization.

With this awareness and sensitivity, we are working with all our might to become a country prepared for disasters in every field, from individuals to society.

However, the state, public institutions, civil society organizations, and our citizens have important responsibilities in reducing the damage that earthquakes and other disasters may cause.

Together with our people, I believe that we will overcome all difficulties and problems through common sense and cooperation.

I sincerely believe that the Earthquake Week will contribute significantly to increasing earthquake awareness.

On this occasion, once again, I extend my condolences to all our people who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquake disaster, my condolences to our nation, and I wish all humanity days without disasters."
