Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan Arıklı, discussed the agenda on Ada TV and emphasized that the majority of accidents on the roads involve alcohol.

Arıklı stated that accidents are not caused by roads or lights, saying, "We cannot assign a police officer to every licensed driver."

Highlighting the existence of dark and poor roads, Arıklı noted that the problem does not lie with the roads but with young people excessively violating traffic rules.

Arıklı emphasized that the ministry is not responsible for traffic accidents and blamed reckless drivers, pointing out the root of the problem.

Arıklı stated that those responsible for causing traffic accidents will not escape punishment, underscoring the inadequacy of laws and the leniency of penalties. He mentioned that there will be amendments to increase penalties in traffic violations, and the police will intensify their efforts.

Arıklı mentioned that vehicles of drunk drivers will be confiscated, and severe penalties will be imposed. He added that individuals causing fatal traffic accidents will face heavier penalties and may be prosecuted for murder.

Arıklı also stated that, as part of the law amendments, vehicles and licenses of drivers caught driving over a certain alcohol limit will be confiscated.
