The parliamentary delegation, representing the Republic Assembly, returned to the country after attending the Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly Meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland.

According to the statement made by the Republic Assembly, the delegation members evaluated the General Assembly Meeting and the contacts made.

In his assessment, the head of the delegation, UBP Deputy Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, emphasized that the Inter-Parliamentary Union Meeting held in Geneva with the participation of nearly 500 MPs from 140 countries was an "important" meeting to discuss the Cyprus issue and defend the interests of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Hasipoğlu stated that the meeting they attended together with Greek Cypriots was the "most important" meeting after the leaders' level, and the reason for the invitation was to discuss the Cyprus issue with Greek Cypriot MPs.

Hasipoğlu mentioned that the Swiss MPs leading the meeting suggested that Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot MPs should meet more frequently in extraordinary situations to work more closely. He said that they welcomed this proposal as the Turkish side.

However, Hasipoğlu stated that the moderators' suggestion was rejected by Greek Cypriot MPs, saying, "We once again see that the Cyprus issue is a matter of status. Greek Cypriot MPs do not see us on an equal footing; they see us as a minority. We find their attitude surprising. This attitude once again demonstrates how just and legitimate our position is."

Hasipoğlu also stated that they would continue to fight against the unjust embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriots.
