Preparations Underway for European Parliament Elections in South Cyprus
Preparations are underway for the upcoming European Parliament elections scheduled to take place in South Cyprus on June 9th, according to reports. The preparations also include local government elections.
Haravgi newspaper reported, based on statements from Ellikos Ilia, the Director General of the Ministry of Interior in South Cyprus, that two new applications will be launched to inform voters about "where to vote" and "what to vote for."
According to the report, Ellikos Ilia stated that the two applications would be operational starting from May 2nd to assist voters. With these applications, citizens will be able to access information about the number of ballot papers they will receive and the preference numbers on the ballot papers after entering relevant data.
Ilia also mentioned that measures have been taken to prevent long queues at polling stations to cast votes.
Regarding the new registrations made in the voter registers from January 3rd to March 22nd, Ilia stated that a total of 5,941 individuals, including 14 Turkish Cypriots, have registered in the permanent voter register. Additionally, 3,208 individuals registered for local government elections, and 519 for the European Parliament elections in the special voter register.
Ilia further explained that more than 3,500 individuals would be elected in the upcoming elections.
