56 Traffic Accidents and 2,171 Offenses: Police Report

During the period of April 8th to April 14th, the police announced that a total of 56 traffic accidents occurred nationwide.

Additionally, 11,366 vehicle drivers were checked during this time frame, and 2,171 drivers were found to have committed offenses, resulting in legal action against them. Furthermore, 201 vehicles were impounded, and 19 drivers were arrested during these checks.

According to the Police Press Office's statement regarding the accidents during this period, out of the 56 accidents, 12 resulted in injuries while 44 resulted in damage only.

The causes of the accidents were attributed to speeding in 20 cases, reckless driving in 12 cases, failure to stop at intersections in 7 cases, tailgating in 7 cases, and various other factors in 10 cases.

The total amount of damage resulting from the accidents was reported to be 3,120,025 TL.

The distribution of accidents by districts is as follows: Nicosia: 20; Famagusta: 12; Kyrenia: 17; Guzelyurt: 3; Iskele: 4.

  • Reports Against 2,171 Drivers During Checks

Furthermore, during the traffic checks conducted by the police nationwide between April 8th and April 14th, a total of 11,366 vehicle drivers were checked, and 2,171 drivers were found to have committed offenses, leading to legal action against them.

During the checks, a total of 201 vehicles were impounded, and 19 drivers were arrested.

The distribution of offenses is as follows:

"Speeding offenses detected by mobile devices (768), speeding (590), driving under the influence of alcohol (105), using a mobile phone while driving (75), driving without a navigation license (58), reckless driving (35), driving without wearing a seatbelt (34), driving without insurance or beyond coverage (25), driving without a vehicle inspection (23), not following traffic signs and signals (22), driving without a license (14), dangerous driving (13), using a vehicle for private transportation without proper authorization (8), not obeying traffic lights (7), using a vehicle for passenger transportation without proper authorization (7), driving with inadequate or improper lighting (6), riding a motorcycle without a protective helmet (2), and 1147 other traffic offenses."
