Hasipoğlu emphasized that the European Union (EU) cannot contribute to achieving a fair and sustainable agreement between the two communities in Cyprus if it continues its biased stance towards Greek Cypriots.

In a written statement released by the UBP, Hasipoğlu called on the EU to "fulfill its promises to Turkish Cypriots and acknowledge the realities on the island, rather than making decisions that favor Greek Cypriots."

Hasipoğlu stated, "The Republic of Cyprus, the only disputed member within the EU and accepted in a manner contrary to its own constitution, is continually supported by the EU. This recent decision at the summit only adds to a series of misguided actions."

"The National Unity Party believes that both Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have a place in the EU. However, the EU has not yet internalized the strategic benefits that such inclusion would bring. Therefore, it continues its pro-Greek Cypriot stance," he added.

Referring to the outcome document of the EU summit held in Belgium, Hasipoğlu pointed out the contradiction in the EU's approach. While emphasizing the importance of developing cooperation with Turkey for mutual benefit, the document also stressed the significance of restarting Cyprus negotiation talks to make progress.

Hasipoğlu concluded by stating, "By persistently maintaining its misguided approach toward Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the EU undermines the possibility of achieving a fair and sustainable agreement between the two communities in Cyprus."
