Sefa Karahasan, who was arrested yesterday as part of the investigation into fake diplomas at the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTÜ) and appeared in Güzelyurt Magistrate's Court today, has been ordered to remain in custody for three days.

During his statement after the court hearing, Karahasan emphasized that there was a "serious setup" against him.

In the hearing held this morning, Judge Gülay Süleymanoğlu Uğur decided that Sefa Karahasan, who holds a doctorate in business management and has been teaching at KTSÜ for a year, should be detained at Güzelyurt Police Department for three days due to allegations regarding his dubious doctoral diploma.

A police officer stated in court that the investigation into the suspect is ongoing and raised suspicions about the grades on the diploma that the suspect allegedly obtained without attending any classes. Based on this information, the court ruled for the suspect to remain in custody.
