Traffic Violations and Speeding: Police Report Reveals Alarming Trends and Fatalities

Police General Directorate announced the results of routine traffic inspections conducted nationwide. According to the inspections, it was stated that many traffic rules were violated by drivers, and these violations led to traffic offenses and accidents.

In a statement by the Police General Directorate, it was mentioned that light violations and the use of mobile phones while driving were inspected between April 15 and 28, and the data obtained from these inspections were shared with the public.

It was emphasized that drivers not adhering to the legal speed limit and driving at high speeds cause traffic accidents. Additionally, it was announced that between April 29 and May 5, in addition to the traffic inspections conducted nationwide by the District Police Directorates Traffic Teams, a special focus was placed on drivers who were driving at high speeds. It was reported that a total of 1,677 drivers were identified to have committed this violation and reported.

While a total of 31,835 drivers were found to be driving at high speeds in the traffic inspections conducted in 2023, it was stated that in 2024 (from January 1 to May 5, 2024), a total of 17,151 drivers were reported for driving at high speeds.

In addition, it was reported that in 2023, 15 of the traffic accidents resulted in fatalities, and a total of 1,004 traffic accidents occurred due to driving at high speeds. In 2024, it was mentioned that 10 of the traffic accidents resulted in fatalities, and a total of 538 traffic accidents occurred due to driving at high speeds.

The Police General Directorate emphasized that traffic inspections will continue on all aspects and invited all drivers to adhere to traffic rules, sharing the message, "Your priority in traffic should not be speeding, but arriving safely at your destination and embracing your loved ones."
