The decision was announced by President Füsun Cemaller, along with Senior Judge Vedia Berkut Barkın and Judge Tutku Candaş, of the Nicosia High Criminal Court. President Cemaller stated that an investigation into the assault was initiated after a technician conducting electrical work in the prison noticed the victim's condition and reported it to the guard. The incident occurred on February 10, 2023, and involved İbrahim Uçar, Hasan Takımcılar, Aydın Güner, and İbrahim Takımcılar, who were accused of the assault.

During the trial, the court heard testimony from two doctors, a psychologist, and an expert from the Ankara Criminal Investigation Department. Their testimonies supported the victim's claims of assault and abuse. Additionally, statements from other inmates corroborated the victim's account of the events.

President Cemaller emphasized the severity of the crime and highlighted the increasing prevalence of sexual offenses. She noted that the perpetrators had violated the victim's sexual integrity in a particularly egregious manner, especially considering the setting of a correctional facility where they were expected to be rehabilitated.

In light of all the evidence presented, the court sentenced the defendants to 21 years in prison for their roles in the assault.
