According to Alphanews, Christodoulides, who attended a reception this morning as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the European Union in Cyprus, stated, "I responded positively to Maria Holguin's call for a tripartite meeting. After all, a process that is not limited to just Cyprus is ongoing. If we do not discuss, how will we see if there is a perspective for a solution to the Cyprus problem? In this context, I cannot understand Tatar's refusal to engage."

Christodoulides expressed his respect for Special Representative Holguin's process, stating, "She has had very important contacts with international actors regarding the Cyprus problem lately. She has also made proposals during these meetings. These proposals were not outside the criteria for a solution. We need to talk to overcome the problems. Making statements won't take us anywhere."

Referring to the upcoming visit of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Turkey next week, the Greek Cypriot leader said, "This visit is very important. I have discussed the messages he will convey to Ankara."

Responding to a question about the role of the European Union, Christodoulides stated that the EU has tools and actions that can accelerate the resumption of negotiations and find a solution to the Cyprus problem. He said, "The EU has recently sent a very positive message that it is ready for positive developments. If these turn into positive actions, we can make progress. This is entirely in Turkey's hands."
