Bozkurt, who identified himself as the hotel owner, stated that Adıyaman and Hatay suffered the most damage during the earthquake. He claimed that, as the property owner, he ensured the building was constructed to the highest standards, capable of bearing the load of its 13 floors.

"INNOCENT PEOPLE DON'T RUN; IF THAT WERE THE CASE, I WOULD HAVE FLED THE WAR"

Bozkurt emphasized that he communicated the building requirements to the architects and engineers, explaining, "They say there is a chance I might flee, but I won't because innocent people don't run." Reiterating his participation in the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation, Bozkurt maintained his innocence, stating, "If that were the case, I would have fled the war."
