Two Turkish Cypriot runners based in the UK, Okan Baysan and Halil İzzet, participated in the traditional London Run under the slogan "50 Years of Peace on the Island".

According to a statement from the TRNC London Representation, Baysan and İzzet highlighted the crucial turning point the Cyprus Peace Operation of July 20, 1974, represented for the Turkish Cypriot people, aiming to rescue them from oppression, persecution, and massacres by Greeks, and to bring peace and tranquility to the island.

Ambassador Çimen Keskin of the TRNC London Representation and Kenan Nafi, President of the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations in the UK, met with Baysan and İzzet before the run to show their support.

Ambassador Keskin emphasized the pride in the achievements of the Turkish Cypriot community in the UK across various aspects of life, contributing significantly to the promotion of Turkish Cypriot identity and culture. She thanked Baysan and İzzet for their sensitivity in raising awareness about the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation of July 20, 1974, and wished them success in their run to highlight the peace and tranquility established on the island through the operation.
