In his message commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, Kılıçdaroğlu emphasized the operation as a significant blow to the imperialist plans to encircle the region and Turkey. He paid tribute to the late leaders Ecevit and Erbakan, as well as the heroic martyrs, expressing his gratitude to the veterans.

In his social media post on the occasion of July 20, Kılıçdaroğlu stated:

“This is not about staying silent when sacks are put over our soldiers’ heads.

This is not about lowering our flag and fleeing from our land in Syria.

This is not about boarding an English ship and abandoning and surrendering the homeland when the enemy is at the door.

They told him not to plant poppies, but he did. They told him not to enter Cyprus, but he did. They imposed an embargo, and he resisted.

Long live the path of those who wrote nationalism on the Beşparmak Mountains of Cyprus and the waves of the Aegean Sea…

Long live the path of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk…”
