Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli held a press conference today at the MHP Headquarters. In his speech, Bahçeli also touched on Cyprus, emphasizing that Cyprus is not just an island where life continues, but a monument to the existence of the Turkish nation.

Highlighting that Cyprus is the keystone of the region, Bahçeli said, “For a long time, Cyprus has been the center of overt or covert conflicts and struggles.”

Bahçeli explained that there are those who fear the establishment of peace in Cyprus and that their schemes are continuously staged, stating, “What was done in Crete was planned to be repeated in Cyprus. If it were not for Turkey's intervention 50 years ago, we would have faced the same disasters as in Gaza.”

Continuing his speech, Bahçeli said:

“Let them not think that we have forgotten the attacks on our babies, women, and compatriots. The military landing prioritized the freedom and security of life and property for the Turkish Cypriots. The Turkish forces came to give life to their compatriots against the EOKA gangs that burned and destroyed. The Ottoman slap landed on their faces.”

“DENDIAS' STATEMENTS ARE RUDENESS”

Describing the statements of Greek Defense Minister Dendias as rudeness and arrogance, Bahçeli said, “The July 20 Peace Operation ended the genocide attempts. Turkish enemies are disturbed and losing sleep. The disrespect shown by a Greek singer towards the Turkish flag and Atatürk's poster is another example of an immorality that tests our patience. The chronic Cyprus problem is the work of those who fear a solution. Each time, it has been the Greek side that has avoided a solution.”
