Tuğcu, in a statement to Kıbrıs Postası, emphasized that the recent surge in smoke from Teknecik Power Plant, which poses a threat to public health, is likely due to either running out of fuel or insufficient oxygen, indicating an emission-related issue rather than a fuel quality problem.

Tuğcu explained that the recent increase in power outages has prevented interventions on the units, which has also hindered the maintenance of the plant. He noted that the units have been operating at full capacity continuously, which could cause oxygen-related problems. He reiterated that there is no issue with the fuel quality.
