UBP Denies Claims of Cancelled Organization Elections: "Court Ruling Misrepresented"
The National Unity Party (UBP) has refuted claims circulating in the media that organization elections were annulled and deemed in violation of party regulations.
In an official statement, UBP clarified that the information regarding court cases involving certain organization elections has been misrepresented in the media.
UBP emphasized that the reports claiming "UBP's organization elections, which were taken to court, have been annulled, and the court found the elections in violation of regulations" are not accurate. The party explained that the decision made by the Nicosia District Court was only a temporary injunction, stating that "the elected organization heads cannot exercise their powers until the case is resolved." The main issues of the case have not yet been addressed.
"Response to Baseless Reports Will Be Given on September 21"
UBP also stressed that the outcome of these organization elections will not affect the ordinary congress scheduled for September 21. The party highlighted that "the necessary response to those trying to cast a shadow over our congress with such baseless reports will be given by our members on September 21."
"No Members or Organization Heads Will Be Disadvantaged"
Regarding the organization elections, UBP assured that its authorized bodies will take all necessary steps to ensure no members or organization heads are disadvantaged after the congress. The statement concluded with an invitation for all members and the public to attend the party's "democracy celebration" at the Lefkoşa Atatürk Sports Hall on September 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
