KSTU Investigation: Gündüz and Shakerifard Charged with 130 Cases
In the KSTU trial held at Güzelyurt District Court, Serdal Gündüz and Amir Shakerifard faced charges in 130 different cases.
As part of the investigation into Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTU), the university's secretary-general and one of its shareholders, Serdal Gündüz, appeared in court today alongside Amir Shakerifard, the head of the university's international office, for the preliminary investigation (PI) hearing.
During the hearing, the two defendants were formally charged with a total of 130 cases. The court postponed the hearing to Tuesday, September 17, to allow time for witness testimonies.
Prosecutor Read the Charges
In the session presided over by Güzelyurt District Court Judge Gülay Süleymanoğlu Uğur, prosecutor Damla Güçlü, representing the Attorney General's Office, read the charges against the defendants one by one. Lawyers Doğa Zeki, Talat Tanca, and Asiye Yetkiner were present, representing the defendants.
Prosecutor Güçlü requested a postponement to allow time for witness testimonies, a motion that was not opposed by the defense.
Nature of the Charges
The defendants face multiple charges, including:
- Fraudulent Procurement of Money
- Fraud
- Forgery and Circulation of Forged Documents
- Account Manipulation and Fraud
- Money Laundering
- Inciting the Use of Forged Bank Payment Orders
- Embezzlement by Employees
Ongoing Trial in the High Criminal Court
In addition to these charges, Serdal Gündüz is also undergoing trial at the Nicosia High Criminal Court, related to another case involving his assistant, Berk Özbek. The legal process in that case is still ongoing.
