Excessive Levels of Pesticides Found in Imported Pears and Tomatoes
Recent food analysis conducted at the State Laboratory revealed that imported pears and round tomatoes contained excessive levels of pesticides.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, 83 out of 85 samples collected from imported goods between September 6 and 12 were deemed safe.
However, pears from Selgün Ticaret and round tomatoes from Hürsen Tarım Ürünleri Ltd. were found to exceed the pesticide limits. The contaminated pears will be destroyed at the request of the company, while the tomatoes will be returned to their country of origin.
All eight samples taken from local products were found to be free of any contamination.
