Peksever: Emrullah Turanlı's 54 Million TL Debt and Special Privileges Constitute a Crime
El-Sen General Secretary Hüseyin Peksever has highlighted that Emrullah Turanlı, the owner of T&T, the operator of Ercan Airport, has an outstanding debt of 54 million TL. Peksever emphasized that the special privilege granted to Turanlı, preventing the disconnection of his electricity supply, constitutes a crime and violates the principle of equality.
Speaking to Kıbrıs Postası, Peksever shared the latest update on Turanlı’s debt, stating that 35 million TL of this debt is overdue.
Peksever strongly criticized the special treatment, noting that while individuals with as little as 675 TL in overdue payments have their electricity cut, Turanlı continues to receive uninterrupted service, which he said is against the law and constitutes a public offense.
He stressed, “Those who act outside the law and abuse their positions are committing public crimes and misusing their authority.”
Referring to the regulations of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (Kıb-Tek), Peksever underscored that the Electricity Development Law (chapters 170-171) clearly outlines the responsibilities and authorities of the institution. He concluded by reiterating that the special privilege given to Turanlı not only breaks the law but also violates the principle of fairness.
