In his statement, Taçoy criticized Üstel for allegedly planning to manipulate the election process by allowing individuals without proper voting rights to cast ballots. He emphasized that the party’s elections should be conducted according to the rules rather than to protect personal interests.
"Irregularities and Violations of Party Regulations"
Taçoy alleged that Ünal Üstel is trying to gain an unfair advantage by allowing new members who joined after January 23, 2024, to vote, contrary to the party’s regulations. “Ünal Üstel is insisting on letting these new members vote despite the fact that only those who were members before January 23, 2024, should have that right,” Taçoy said.
"Sharp Increase in Membership and Irregularities"
Taçoy highlighted that there was a significant increase in new memberships from January 23 to March 23, 2024, with 2,507 new members registered, and nearly 4,000 new registrations by July 2024. This sharp rise in membership coincides with the ongoing debates about the party congress date.
"Law Violations Constitute Public Offense"
Taçoy criticized Üstel for his actions, stating that those who act outside the law are committing a public offense. “An administration that cannot manage power outages and delays school openings for the congress is relying on irregularities to gain an unfair advantage in an election it knows it cannot win,” he added.
"Divine Justice Will Prevail"
Concluding his remarks, Taçoy expressed confidence that the party members will not only change the current leader but will also give a lesson to those who ignore the rules and regulations. “On September 21, at the Atatürk Sports Hall in Nicosia, UBP members will teach a lesson to those who disregard the rules and the party’s regulations,” Taçoy said.
