Erdoğan: No Discussion on the First Four Articles of the Constitution
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that there is no debate concerning the first four articles of the Turkish Constitution. Speaking at the Overseas Contractors Services Success Awards Ceremony at the JW Marriott Hotel, Erdoğan emphasized Turkey’s economic and foreign policy achievements.
Erdoğan highlighted Turkey's economic growth, noting that the Turkish construction sector is now the second largest globally by the number of firms, trailing only China, and ranks among the top eight countries in revenue. He also pointed out that Turkey's national income has surpassed $1.1 trillion for the first time, reflecting significant economic progress.
Regarding foreign policy, Erdoğan underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions, which include three of the world's five largest economies. He stressed that the global landscape is no longer defined by binary choices, and Turkey seeks to enhance its cooperation with all nations.
On the topic of constitutional reform, Erdoğan affirmed the commitment to drafting a new constitution with broad societal consensus. He underscored that there is no discussion about altering the first four articles of the Constitution, and the People’s Alliance shares this view. Erdoğan described the creation of a new constitution as a duty to honor the nation's sacrifices during the July 15 coup attempt and expressed a desire to move beyond the current coup-era constitution to enable Turkey’s progress.
Erdoğan concluded that political institutions must adopt a constructive and moderate stance to support this constitutional reform process.
