HP: Government Should Resign and Lead the Country to Early Elections
The People's Party (HP) has called for the immediate resignation of the government, urging that the country be taken to early elections. If the government fails to do so, HP suggests that the main opposition withdraw from Parliament to force early elections.
HP described the recent developments surrounding the Parliamentary Speaker election as the "final point of the political collapse and the resulting pile of rubble" in the country. In a written statement, HP recalled that two and a half years ago, when they decided to withdraw from Parliament, they warned of the current situation, stating that "a game was being played and no one should be part of it."
The statement also criticized Prime Minister Üstel and the government, accusing them of turning the Constitution, laws, institutions, and the country into the plaything of one political party. HP emphasized the need for opposition to stop tolerating the ongoing situation under the guise of performing parliamentary duties, declaring that this is no longer sustainable.
"The message is clear and straightforward: This Parliament does not reflect the will of the people, as it did on the day it was first convened. The government should immediately resign and take the country to elections. If the government cannot do this, the main opposition must at least withdraw from Parliament to force an early election. Only an election can clean up this wreckage."
