Assembly Unable to Elect Speaker Again, Chaos Continues
The Republican Assembly has failed once again to elect a Speaker, and the ongoing deadlock continues to cause political chaos. Meawhile Minister of Transport and General Chairman of the Rebirth Party (YDP), Erhan Arıklı, stated that the National Unity Party's (UBP) candidate for Speaker of the Assembly will most likely be Ziya Öztürkler.
The election for the Speaker of the Assembly was scheduled for today, but it ended in another impasse, with no consensus reached among the ruling party UBP members. The failure to elect a speaker has further deepened the political uncertainty in the country.
Minister of Transport and General Chairman of the Rebirth Party (YDP), Erhan Arıklı, stated that the National Unity Party's (UBP) candidate for Speaker of the Assembly will most likely be Ziya Öztürkler.
Arıklı made the announcement during a press conference at the Assembly, emphasizing that the UBP's candidate is expected to be Öztürkler.
On the other hand
Assembly Speaker Zorlu Töre announced that the General Assembly, originally scheduled to convene on Monday, October 21, to discuss the presidential election agenda, will now meet tomorrow. Töre explained the change, stating:
"Due to the passing of our relative, retired commander Ali Bozdağlı, to allow for the autopsy procedures and to accommodate the earthquake committee's participation in the ISIAS hearing in Adıyaman, the session will be held tomorrow."
