UBP’s Parliamentary Speaker Candidate Ziya Öztürkler Fails to Win in First Vote
Ziya Öztürkler, the Parliamentary Speaker candidate for the National Unity Party (UBP), failed to secure the position in the first round of voting. The election for the Presidency of the Republic’s Assembly Council, which has remained unresolved for 11 days, continued today.
During the General Assembly session that began around 11 a.m., UBP nominated Ziya Öztürkler for the role of Speaker of the Assembly.
In the first round, Öztürkler received 23 votes in favor and 23 against, with 3 votes marked as invalid.
Since Öztürkler was unable to win the first round, the election will proceed to a second round.
A 10-minute recess was called for the session.
