Traffic Report: Three Fatalities and 31 Injuries in One Week
In just one week, three people lost their lives in traffic accidents, while 31 others were injured. According to the Weekly Traffic Report, a total of 73 traffic accidents occurred during this period. Speeding was identified as the leading cause of these accidents.
The Police Press Office released the Weekly Traffic Report, covering the period from October 14 to October 20, 2024. During this time, 73 traffic accidents were recorded, resulting in two fatalities, 25 injuries, and 46 cases of property damage. The total damage from these accidents amounted to 2,485,045 TL.
The report indicated that of the accidents, 22 were due to speeding, 16 to careless driving, 12 to failure to stop at intersections, 13 to tailgating, and 10 to other factors.
The distribution of accidents by location was as follows: 28 in Nicosia, 18 in Famagusta, 15 in Kyrenia, 7 in Omorfo, and 5 in Iskele.
Inspections
During the same period, the police conducted traffic inspections across the country, checking 17,655 drivers. Of these, 3,227 drivers were reported for violations, legal action was initiated against them, 183 vehicles were removed from circulation, and 8 drivers were arrested.
The breakdown of violations was as follows:

- Failing to follow light rules or driving with insufficient lighting: 50
