In a written statement, the party highlighted the need for a positive atmosphere to reach a lasting agreement and begin negotiations in Cyprus. It was also noted that the improvement of relations between Turkey and Greece, along with Turkey’s progress toward European Union (EU) accession, would contribute to a solution in Cyprus.

The statement read:
"While it is positive for the relevant parties in Cyprus to enter into sincere dialogue, the Greek Cypriot side's primary counterpart is the Turkish Cypriot side." It was further explained that while such dialogue could benefit the process, unilateral contacts excluding the Turkish Cypriots could lead to serious risks.

The statement stressed that historically, Turkish Cypriots have been direct participants in the Cyprus Republic and the founding agreements, as well as the main actors in the solution process. Excluding Turkish Cypriots from any process has historically undermined their social rights and interests. The statement also pointed out that the Turkish Cypriot side, as the official counterpart at the UN level, is being sidelined in the dialogue, which was described as "irrational."

"The primary counterpart of the Greek Cypriot side is the Turkish Cypriot side, with whom they will share power in the future. Dialogue between the other sides is certainly beneficial; however, any approach that excludes the Turkish Cypriots, one of the essential components, will harm our social interests and future. This reality must not be forgotten, and all steps must be taken accordingly," the statement concluded.
