Three Killed in Traffic Accident in Southern Cyprus, Three Days of Mourning Declared

According to information provided by the police in Southern Cyprus, three people were killed in a traffic accident that occurred early yesterday on the Derinya road. The accident happened shortly after midnight when a 44-year-old driver collided with a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old.

Following the accident, Martinos Marti (20), Eirinaios Adamou (20), and Nikolas Koutsou (18) lost their lives.

Other passengers in the vehicle, aged 18 and 20, are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

The 44-year-old driver and his 15-year-old son were also taken to the hospital and discharged after initial treatment.

The accident occurred when the 44-year-old’s vehicle struck a tree and subsequently caught fire, at which point both the driver and his son managed to exit the car.

Police have arrested the 44-year-old driver, stating that he was detained for causing a fatal accident due to negligence, recklessness, or dangerous driving.

A three-day period of mourning has been declared in the region following the deaths of the three young men.
