Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, speaking after CTP leader Tufan Erhürman, emphasized that the government’s focus is on the budget, not elections. "Our position has always been clear: elections will take place in 2027," Üstel said.

He highlighted regional and global turmoil, stating, "The Mediterranean is a powder keg. The Israel-Palestine war, the ongoing conflicts in Syria, and the Russia-Ukraine war have caused significant distress. Additionally, Southern Cyprus is practically a military base with American and British soldiers and warships stationed there. These issues also contribute to economic challenges."

Üstel reaffirmed the government’s stance, saying, "In such a volatile environment, an early election is not on our agenda. Elections will take place as scheduled in 2027."

Following these remarks, the motion was put to a vote and was rejected by the government majority.
