KTAMS Announces Poverty Threshold: 27,254 TL
The Cyprus Turkish Civil Servants Union (KTAMS) has declared that the poverty threshold for a family of four stands at 27,254 TL as of November 30, 2024.
In its statement, KTAMS detailed that the calculation was based on nutritional standards provided by the TRNC Ministry of Health’s Department of Inpatient Treatment Institutions. The union used average prices for essential food items provided by the Statistics Institute to determine the monthly food expenses required for a balanced diet.
The breakdown of required monthly food expenses for healthy nutrition is as follows:
- Adult woman: 7,022.10 TL
- Adult man: 7,340.10 TL
- Adolescent (15-19 years): 7,749.60 TL
- Child (4-6 years): 5,142.60 TL
The total monthly expense for a family of four amounts to 27,254 TL, defined as the poverty threshold.
Additionally, KTAMS noted that official figures from the Statistics Institute indicate a 0.78% inflation rate for November 2024.
