Öztürkler: Kazakhstan's Support is Crucial for Full Membership in Turkic Council

Öztürkler, accompanied by Tatlısu Mayor Hayri Orçan, welcomed the Kazakh delegation at the Parliament's Honor Hall. The meeting was also attended by Resmiye Eroğlu CANALTAY, a member of the Friendship Group with Kazakhstan's Parliament, and independent MP Hasan Tosunoğlu.

During the meeting, Öztürkler reiterated the importance of Kazakhstan's support, adding, "We need assistance to upgrade our status in the Turkic States Organization. We expect this cooperation to continue."

Cooperation and Sisterhood Protocol

Tatlısu Mayor Hayri Orçan mentioned that the Kazakh delegation was invited under the framework of the cooperation and sisterhood protocol between the two municipalities.

Building Stronger Ties with Kazakh Brothers

Resmiye Eroğlu CANALTAY, a member of Kazakhstan's Parliament Friendship Group, expressed her joy at seeing Kazakh nationals, noting, "I am very happy to see our Kazakh brothers, who are part of the Turkish nation, here. This strengthens us. We are pleased to be here."

Relations Should Extend Beyond Visits

Independent MP Hasan Tosunoğlu stressed that relations should go beyond mere visits. He said, "I believe our relations should continue to grow through sports, cultural, and commercial cooperation. It is our hope that Kazakh nationals engage more with our athletes and those working in the cultural sector. I sincerely wish for trade and sports to reach a better level."

Support for Recognition of the TRNC

Öztürkler also praised Hayri Orçan for his efforts in supporting the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the region’s development, calling him a valuable mayor who has signed many important agreements.

He further stated, "Being in cooperation with a region and a mayor like Hayri Orçan is significant for us. We are in this building where the republic was declared 41 years ago. This building is very important to us. We must work, form partnerships, and open up to the world for the TRNC to look to the future with more confidence."

Economic Cooperation in the Turkic Council

Öztürkler noted that in 2022, with the support of the Republic of Turkey, they began participating as an observer in the Turkic States Organization, which has strengthened relations in cultural, political, and economic fields.

He highlighted the significance of Kazakhstan's support for the TRNC, reiterating, "We need support to transition from observer status to full membership in the Turkic States Organization. We expect these partnerships to continue."

Following the speeches, a mutual gift exchange took place.
