Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz Responds to Allegations
Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz addressed recent allegations regarding a piece of land he purchased before becoming a minister. The claims, which appeared in Bugün Kıbrıs, suggested Oğuz was involved in a construction project with 16 apartments.
Oğuz clarified that before entering politics, he had purchased land with a loan from ÖYAK Bank, which he later gave to a contractor who built 16 apartments and two shops. Oğuz received two apartments and one shop as part of the agreement, and the remaining properties were sold by the contractor.
He stressed that it was impossible for him to own all 16 apartments, and dismissed the allegations as misleading and “malicious.” He also stated that all relevant information had been properly disclosed to the parliament.
Oğuz expressed disappointment with the misleading reporting, emphasizing that he had answered all questions transparently. He also called on the Media Ethics Committee to investigate the matter while reserving his legal rights.
