Üstel explained that the credit package was created to boost the small livestock population, improve herd breeding, enhance the quality of meat and milk, and promote competitiveness, with consideration for the halloumi certification standards.

In a written statement today, Üstel emphasized that the government continues to support production and local producers, translating its vision into action by securing and providing the necessary resources.

“Through the support provided for small livestock farming in 2024, we have increased our small livestock breeding stock by approximately 10%. Along with this, we have also seen an increase in small livestock milk production,” said Üstel.

He added that the government’s focus on small livestock farming extends beyond just increasing financial support. Various projects have also contributed to improvements in animal breeding, and this new credit package adds another step in that direction.

“We are introducing a 250 million TL credit support package for small livestock producers, with a 36-month term and an annual interest rate of 21%. This package will enable producers to import disease-free, certified breeding small livestock suitable for our country’s conditions. It is designed to increase our small livestock population and, consequently, milk production,” Üstel continued.

He highlighted that the package also aligns with efforts to increase the quality of meat and milk, while boosting the competitiveness of the sector. The initiative underscores the importance the government places on livestock farming and agriculture in general.

Prime Minister Üstel concluded, “I wish that this support package will bring success to all our producers.”
