According to the report, Guterres has not discussed the federal solution in any discussions since the informal summit in Geneva, where Turkish Cypriot President Ersin Tatar formally presented his proposal for a two-state solution.

The article titled "Federal Solution in the Countdown" states that although Guterres participated in talks with federal content, he has not mentioned a federal solution since then. It added that since 2021, Guterres has encouraged both sides to find common ground and to involve him again in the process.

The article also provides a chronological account of developments in the Cyprus issue up until 2021, including statements made by leaders, and refers to recent remarks by President Ersin Tatar in Kıbrıs newspaper. The report mentioned that the hope for a return to a federal solution could be revived if an agreement were signed, immediately and unconditionally accepting Guterres' framework without the need for a negotiation schedule, arbitration, or referendum.
