Guterres Has Not Raised Federal Solution Since 2021
The Greek Cypriot newspaper Alithia reported that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has not raised the issue of a federal solution since the informal five-party summit in 2021.
According to the report, Guterres has not discussed the federal solution in any discussions since the informal summit in Geneva, where Turkish Cypriot President Ersin Tatar formally presented his proposal for a two-state solution.
The article titled "Federal Solution in the Countdown" states that although Guterres participated in talks with federal content, he has not mentioned a federal solution since then. It added that since 2021, Guterres has encouraged both sides to find common ground and to involve him again in the process.
