Yılmaz's message read:

"61 years ago, the 'Bloody Christmas' attacks launched by the Greek terrorist organization EOKA against the Turkish Cypriots were etched into history as a dark stain.

The perpetrators of this atrocity failed to achieve their goals in the face of our unity and solidarity.

The Turkish Cypriot people, who never bowed to the barbarity and oppression they faced, achieved victory in their struggle with the unwavering support of the Motherland, Turkey, and made history with their honorable resistance.

We remember with mercy those who were martyred during Bloody Christmas and once again emphasize that we will keep their sacred memory alive forever. We haven’t forgotten, and we won’t let it be forgotten!"
