The verdict in the case of the İsias Hotel, which collapsed during the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes on February 6, 2023, was announced yesterday night after the sixth hearing, lasting approximately 16 hours. Hotel owner Ahmet Bozkurt was sentenced to 17 years and 17 months in prison for "conscious negligence."

The verdict in the İsias Hotel case, which involved the collapse of the hotel during the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes on February 6, 2023, was announced after the sixth hearing, lasting nearly 16 hours.

According to the Turkish News Agency Cyprus (TAK), the court sentenced the hotel owners to prison for "conscious negligence."

Hotel owner Ahmet Bozkurt received a sentence of 17 years and 17 months, while his son, Mehmet Fatih Bozkurt, was sentenced to 15 years and 28 months in prison.

Architect Erdem Yıldız was sentenced to 17 years and 17 months, while civil engineer Halil Bağcı received 7 years and 16 months. Other defendants, Hasan Aslan and Mehmet Göncüoğlu, were sentenced to 15 years and 16 months and 7 years and 16 months, respectively.

The court acquitted the remaining defendants: Bilge Açık, Efe Bozkurt, Seda Zeren, Şule Özbek, and Ulviye Bozkurt.
