Solyalı: "These Are Not the Sentences the Defendants Deserved"
Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Ürün Solyalı commented on the verdict in the İsias Hotel case, which claimed the lives of 72 people, including 35 Champion Angels, stating, "These are not the sentences the defendants deserved."
In a statement shared on social media, Solyalı emphasized that the legal fight for the defendants to receive the heaviest penalties would continue.
Solyalı’s post read as follows:
"Although sentences were handed down from the upper limit of 'conscious negligence,' we know these are not the penalties the defendants deserved. Both the expert reports and the legal grounds were sufficient to prosecute for probable malice, but the Adıyaman Heavy Penal Court did not take this step.
The fight will continue for exemplary and deterrent sentences that will ease public conscience, even slightly, and help build a more secure future.
The families have so far walked with great strength, faith, and leadership, uniting the public and marching shoulder-to-shoulder in their pursuit of justice. This societal solidarity will persist during the appeal process and every subsequent step."
