25 People Survive Crash of Azerbaijan Airlines Passenger Plane in Kazakhstan
A passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) crashed near the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, with 25 survivors reported.
According to a statement from Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations, the plane carried 67 passengers and a 5-member crew.
The statement noted that 25 of the 72 people on board survived the crash, and 22 of them were hospitalized.
Bird Strike Causes Crash
The AZAL flight, operating between Baku and Grozny, reportedly collided with a flock of birds. Prior to the crash, the plane was redirected to the Russian city of Makhachkala in the Dagestan region due to fog.
Kazakhstan’s Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova initially reported that six people survived the crash, but their conditions were critical.
