2024: Hottest Year on Record in Cyprus
The year 2024 has been officially recorded as the hottest year in Cyprus over the past 49 years, according to the Meteorology Department. The average temperature reached 21.5°C, surpassing the long-term average.
Data from the Meteorology Department highlights that the 2024 average temperature exceeded the norm of 19.5°C calculated for the 1991-2020 period, marking a significant new record.
The findings are based on measurements taken during the 1975-2024 period, indicating an ongoing trend of rising temperatures in the region.
